Sustainability

OK, sense nobody seems to be following this yet, I'll take the opportunity to quietly rant.

We attended a panel discussion on sustainability Tuesday...was intersting, but I keep trying to figure out when "greenbling" started superseding common sense and quality, design and lasting construction. When one begins with a floor to ceiling wall of solid glass facing west in Texas, with no overhangs or sunscreens, how do you ever get to be "Green"

It can't be all about the points.

  1. Because too many people associate LEED as the only standard by which to determine "Green"...too easy to get lost in the weeds

  2. Although sustainable design has been around for a while, the procedure for qualification is still very young. The combination of literal interpretation and pressure to get points may result in inefficient designs and unfortunate circumstances.

    "since nobody seems..."
